I would be happy to visit your school or library.  I enjoy doing readings for kids up to grade eight as they are the target audience for my books. I am also available to speak to librarians and teachers.

All of my presentations include discussion about being a writer, stories about how I came to write a particular story or book, readings from my published (and occasionally unpublished) material, and an opportunity for questions and answers.

Kindergarten to Grade 3: (30 to 60 minutes) These readings usually begin with The New Calf with the art shown by power point. I have other activities I enjoy doing with this age group, including a demonstration that delves into the mysteries of colour separation.

Grades 3 to 8: (45 to 60 minutes)  In presentations for this group I spend some time talking about editing as well as some background into the novels, particular the challenges and joys of writing historical fiction. I also like to give suggestions and encouragement to aspiring writers.

To arrange for a visit please use one of the addresses on the contact page. My readings generally run about $175 per session plus mileage with discounts for multiple readings at the same school. To make this more economical for your school, the Saskatchewan Writers Guild has a program that assists with expenses.  You can find out more about the program here. Please contact me to make sure I am available for your date before making the application.
